What are the benefits of avoiding inbreeding when breeding show dogs?
If you want to breed dogs that are
completely identical in looks inbreeding may be a tool. At the same time, however, the natural variation is lost and other problems usually surface. If the breed is already inbred the breeder won't even be helped by choosing the healthiest dogs for breeding: it will become increasingly difficult to find healthier and better dogs within the breed.
Inbreeding does more harm than good. With good luck you can maybe "clone" a dog by inbreeding. But who wants their dog to be completely like every other dog in the breed?
