Are all your imports Kennel Club registered?

The Jack Russell is a special breed as it still has no official KC status in its country of origin, the UK, even if it's one of the most popular breeds there. Because of this almost all dogs imported from the UK have to go through an assessment to be registered with the Finnish Kennel Club. When a new puppy is brought from the UK two breed judges look it over and if they consider it within the breed standard, it will be registered.

The Jack Russell originates from Great Britain where it is used for fox and vermin hunting. There are several tens of thousands of JRTs in the UK and so we have an ideal situation for a JRT enthusiast: a breed where there still are new genes available to add diversity to our population.

The Finnish JRT club has organised several open breed assessment where hundreds of Jacks have got their registration papers. This has been of immense help in widening the genetic base of the breed.
